Recently, though, more automakers have switched to rotors which are lighter in weight and thinner to cut down weight and help save cash. Discs used to last through two or three resurfacings, but don't be stunned if whenever it's time to change the pads you might be instructed you at the same time need new rotors. The current ones might not have enough substance in order to be shaved off in resurfacing and even may not be exactly as hard-wearing as those from, say, 10 or more years ago. In addition, service stores are not willing to resurface rotors since it will add valuable time to a job as well as the quality of the function can easily vary by who does it along with how good they are. As a substitute, it is quicker, easier in addition to more profitable for repair shops to just put in new rotors alongside with completely new pads.
